Another UK firm: a food producer sourcing from the UK and selling to the UK - this caught my attention because presumably shielded from direct tariff insanity.
Perhaps the local UK folks have a more nuanced view, but at first look it seemed decent.
First, some price statistics:
From 1988: initiation
Annualized Return 0.1342000
Annualized Std Dev 0.2562000
Annualized Sharpe (Rf=0%) 0.5237000
maxDrawdown 0.5150701
CONCLUSION: Decent
From 2010: post Great Recession crash
Annualized Return 0.1296000
Annualized Std Dev 0.2453000
Annualized Sharpe (Rf=0%) 0.5285000
maxDrawdown 0.3764252
CONCLUSION: Decent
From 2021: post Pandemic
Annualized Return 0.0887000
Annualized Std Dev 0.2108000
Annualized Sharpe (Rf=0%) 0.4211000
maxDrawdown 0.3764252
CONCLUSION: might want to check into the past four years more
Financials:
I checked a lot of the numbers in the following perplexity.ai link that summarizes financials against the references and they checked out.
That's not always true of AI generated financial summaries.
The margins look a bit funny for 2024 but the source changed from investing.com to FT, so presumably there's some difference in how they report.
https://www.perplexity.ai/search/pls-do-financial-...The current P/E seems high, but they're increasing revenue and profit (usually) pretty steadily, so high P/E could simply reflect expectations.
If you've read the above, you know what I know, any input from people knowledgable about the firm would be welcome.
