And it's generally the liberals and progressives who are more concerned about people using their personal connections to government figures leveraging them for profit - measures that try to put some limits on people trading on those connections (lobbyist restrictions, disclosures of government meetings and contacts, and the like) are more often proposed by "good government" liberal/progressive types that conservatives. - albaby

Worth remembering that despite all those restrictions proposed mostly by all those good government liberals, that such activities remain legal. You have repeated schooled us on this problem stating succinctly, "Awful, but not unlawful". I wish it was not this way. Consequences for bad governance are few and far between.
