WatchingTheHerd: Such a tragic event for those on the bridge.

But not for Fox "News" and republicans who have already tried to link the accident to "open borders" (Maria Bartiromo, this morning), "drug-addled" employees and Covid lockdowns (Matt Schlapp on "Wake Up America"), DEI and anti-White business practices, and the bipartisan Infrastructure bill (rep Nancy Mace on "Newsmax"). Others (including Dope1's favorite, @EndWokeness) have blamed Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg who was on the phone with Baltimore officials shortly after the accident and is on the ground in Baltimore now. I guess they think Buttigieg shouldn't have an opinion on racism in America and should be piloting every ship as it goes under every bridge in America.

I haven't seen it yet, but it's only a matter of time before someone blames the wreck on the ship's captain's mRNA Covid vaccination.

In short, republicans will never reach their bottomless pit of despicable behavior.

In the real world, President Biden said the search and rescue operation “is our top priority” and pledged “to ensure every federal resource is available” to the city. Biden also said: “I directed my team to move heaven and earth to reopen the port and rebuild the bridge as soon as humanly possible. It’s my intention that the Federal Government will pay for the entire cost of reconstructing that bridge and I expect the Congress to support my effort."

Before you whine about the cost, here's a reminder: After the 35W bridge collapsed over the Mississippi River in Minnesota on Aug. 1, 2007, the House voted on Aug. 3 to spend $250 million to rebuild the bridge. The vote was 421-0. It passed the Senate by unanimous consent.
