A jury found Donald Trump liable Tuesday for sexually abusing advice columnist E. Jean Carroll in 1996, awarding her $5 million in a judgment that could haunt the former president as he campaigns to regain the White House.

So, one trial: Trump was found liable for sexual abuse by a jury of his peers.

When Trump tried to have the jury award reduced because he had not been found to have "raped" E. Jean Carroll, the judge explained that the definition of rape was "far narrower" than how rape is defined in common modern parlance, in some dictionaries, and in some federal and state criminal statutes and elsewhere.

In fact, the judge wrote, the verdict did not mean that Carroll "failed to prove that Mr. Trump 'raped' her as many people commonly understand the word 'rape.' Indeed ... the jury found that Mr. Trump in fact did exactly that."

Second trial: two Trump Organization companies were found guilty on multiple criminal tax fraud charges.

A Manhattan jury has found two Trump Organization companies guilty on multiple charges of criminal tax fraud and falsifying business records connected to a 15-year scheme to defraud tax authorities by failing to report and pay taxes on compensation for top executives.
