Sigh. I assume any and all rules, laws and building codes will fall by the wayside in the name of "national security". What a friggin' joke.Not directly. I mean, they fall by the wayside, of course. But not entirely because of national security. The federal government is generally exempt from most state and local regulation, including zoning and building codes, under the Supremacy Clause. They don't have to follow local codes.
They
choose to, for the most part. There's a federal statute that tells the agencies that they're supposed to pick among nationally recognized codes and follow those rules to the maximum extent feasible. But that
voluntary compliance is itself subject to a national security caveat, and if following the model or national codes would adversely affect national security, they don't have to apply even that statute:
