I also am a bit puzzled by this deployment. Why put a bunch of B2s on Diego Garcia? Both Japan and the Philippines are closer to the South China Sea and China. Are we expecting a dust-up with India? People keep talking Iran, but we have closer bases in both Turkey and Iraq (though the bases in Iraq are supposedly "temporary").
It seems like a pointless move. Unless it is about Diego Garcia, and the possibility of the British returning the island to its inhabitants (in which case we would be strongly encouraged to leave also).
