According to the Labor Department, since 2018 there has been a 69 percent increase in the number of illegally employed children over the past five years. Arkansas republican governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, 'sounds good,' signing the Youth Hiring Act of 2023 into law allowing workplaces to hire children under the age of 16 without obtaining permission from the Division of Labor.

Arkansas ranks 47th in educational and 48th in its percent of the population with college experience or a college degree nationwide.

Sanders' signing of the bill comes after a major US food sanitation company that operated facilities in eight states, including Arkansas, recently paid a $1.5 million civil penalty for employing minors in hazardous conditions.

Packers Sanitation Services illegally employed at least 102 children between the ages of 13 and 17 in jobs that required them to use toxic chemicals and clean razor-sharp saws.

The republican party: retribution, destroying public education, and exploiting child labor.
