Trump Administration Abandons Deal With Northwest Tribes to Restore Salmon
The Trump administration canceled a deal, signed under President Joe Biden, that would have enabled the removal of four hydroelectric dams along the Columbia River that are considered harmful to salmon. AFAIK there is no shortage of salmon however is an unmet need for massive amounts of electricity and hydro is about as environmentally friendly as it gets.

AFAIK there is no shortage of salmon
That's not too far.
We haven't had a salmon season for 3 years because of blocking and polluting rivers, warming seas, etc
“The United States at this moment occupies a lamentable position as being perhaps the chief offender among civilized nations in permitting the destruction and pollution of nature. Our whole modern civilization is at fault in the matter. But we in America are probably most at fault … We treasure pictures and sculpture. We regard Attic temples and Roman triumphal arches and Gothic cathedrals as of priceless value.
“But we are, as a whole, still in that low state of civilization where we do not understand that it is also vandalism wantonly to destroy or permit the destruction of what is beautiful in nature, whether it be a cliff, a forest, or a species of mammal or bird. Here in the United States we turn our rivers and streams into sewers and dumping-grounds, we pollute the air, we destroy forests and exterminate fishes, birds and mammals, not to speak of vulgarizing charming landscapes with hideous advertisements.”
Party on, Garth.

There actually is a shortage. Several runs of Columbia salmon are either endangered or threatened, and therefore are protected by law. The situation is very complicated, but tribes have a legal claim to the salmon fishery and the dams are causing them economic damage. The dams have economic value, but mitigating the effects of the dams on salmon is costing billions of dollars. Some of those are tax dollars, by the way. This lowered the economic value of the dams to nearly zero from a power generation standpoint. There is value from a transportation standpoint, however.
After decades of expensive and fruitless lawsuits, all the stakeholders got together and after a lot of blood sweat and tears hammered out a deal. The deal did not require removal of the dams, but did create a pathway that would end all the lawsuits. The tribes are on board, and critically the owner and operator of the dams, Bonneville Power is on board too. Now everyone is on the same page and we can arrive at a solution that benefits everyone.
Not so fast. Trump tore up the deal that all the stakeholders wanted, so we're back to lawsuits and expensive and ineffective mitigation measures.

I'm sensing a pattern...
Everyone who has ever come into contact with Donald Trump has been screwed over by him. But I never thought it would happen to America.

As usual, you don't know. But feel free to do your quick-draw, shoot-from-the-hip trick and blast your own metaphorical fact balls.
I suppose 'shortage' depends on how you look at it. We have farmed salmon now, but vastly less wild salmon. And salmon farms pose problems in terms of environmental damage and health.
Wild salmon populations in the western US.
Pre-European settlement:
Columbia River Basin: conservative estimate: 10 to 16 million
Oregon: 2 to 3 million
California: 5.5 million
Current populations:
Washington including Columbia River Basin: 450,000 (and that is a 60% reduction since 1984)
Oregon: Less than 3,000
California: 500,000
