Speaking on Kim Guilfoyle's podcast yesterday, senator Tommy Tuberville said he didn't care if his decision to hold up the promotion of military officers is evidently affecting military readiness, he's not going to budge.

Nope, not his problem.

Besides, Tuberville explained, we have too many senior officers already... compared to WWII, he said.

Umm.

All Tuberville is doing is blocking unanimous consent. He's not blocking anything; any time it wants the Senate can hold a vote.

Presto. Service chiefs installed.

Schumer just wants to spin it that way because he knows that left wing NPC's will repeat it. And guess what? He's right!

Tuberville is making a point, and it's a correct one: Rather than emphasizing driving ships out of the harbor without hitting things or feeding troops the military seems to be laser-focused on flying troops around for abortions and gender surgery. Wonder which thing affects readiness more?

Dope1: The Senate majority leader could bring the nominations to the floor one by one for consideration by regular procedure, but that would require two to three days for each.

Umm, Tuberville is blocking over 300 promotions.

Tuberville is holding up replacements that include that of the Marine Commandant, a post that is now unfilled for the first time since the Civil War. Three more members of the Joint Chiefs, including its chairman, Army General Mark Milley, reach the end of their terms in August and September. That would leave half the Joint Chiefs positions without permanent Senate-confirmed nominees.

Without a unanimous consent agreement, the Senate majority leader would be forced to bring nominations to the floor one by one for consideration by regular procedure, but that would require two to three days for each.

So, let's see... since Tuberville is blocking over 300 promotions, that's 600 to 900 days just on military promotions and nothing else.

IOW, impossible.

Dope1: Tuberville is making a point, and it's a correct one...

From military.com:

There have been 91 abortions performed in U.S. military hospitals since 2016, at least two-thirds of which were for active-duty service women whose lives were threatened by their pregnancy or who were victims of a crime.

Of the 243 gender reassignment surgeries performed on military personnel since 2016, 50 took place between Jan. 1, 2016 and Dec. 31, 2017, and 193 occurred from Jan. 1, 2018 to Dec. 31, 2019 -- the two years after President Donald Trump announced via Twitter that he would bar transgender individuals from serving in the U.S. military.

No one is forcing the military to do anything, or diverting funds to pay for gender reassignment surgery.

The military's health insurance provider, TRICARE, already covers hormone therapy and psychological counselling for gender dysphoria. They don't generally cover surgery, however 'active duty service members may request a waiver if their provider deems surgery medically necessary'.

To put it into context, the Pentagon spends about $50 billion per year on health care. According to data obtained by USA Today in 2019, the Pentagon spent almost $8 million to treat 1,525 transgender troops between 2016 and 2019.

In short, .00016%.

Or a rounding error.

So no, Tuberville is not making a point, he's grandstanding.

He's trying to get his face on camera.

He's trying to get attention as a freshman senator.

He's a transphobic misogynist.

And he's harming military readiness.

Yep, it is really insignificant. So why doesn't the military just give up funding abortion flights and be done with it. In the name of military preparedness of course.

BTW, I am NOT a so-called anti-abortionsist.

He's not blocking anything. The Senate can still hold votes.
Details matter.

And he's still correct.

BTW. Obama purged a lot of good people and promoted like-minded folks up the chain. Hence readiness stinks because we now have guys like Milley and Austin running the show.

That's not Tuberville's fault.

And oh, yeah. Add yard fires to the Navy's woes.

Tuberville isn't blocking anything. If Schumer wants those people promoted, he can schedule votes. He's not doing that since he knows the media and their army of NPC's will just repeat what they're told, not the truth.

<He's a transphobic misogynist.>

He's also a racist, which seems to be a requirement in todays GOP...

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., compared descendants of enslaved people to criminals on Saturday at a rally for former President Donald Trump,
drawing intense backlash for promoting a racist narrative.
"They want crime because they want to take over what you got. They want to control what you have.
They want reparations because they think the people that do the crime are owed that." Tuberville added

In a press statement, NAACP President Derrick Johnson called Tuberville's comments "flat out racist, ignorant and utterly sickening."

Still using the old southern strategy!

BTW, I am NOT a so-called anti-abortionsist.

So, you're just a staunch misogynist who thinks it's okay for women to suffer and die from complications of a pregnancy, or forced to carry a fetus that's the result of rape?

So that's the universe of options huh? One of those two outcomes.

I'll bet a smart guy like you, if you think on it real hard, could identify at least one other plausible course of action the pregnant egg-donor (how dare you refer to the service person as a woman) could take.

Deflection much, BHM? Are you suggesting the egg-donor commit suicide or request an urgent discharge from the service versus risking a problematic pregnancy or rape? We treat our pets better than that.
