Credit where credit is due: Somebody in the government finally noticed that a firm linked to China has been buying up all sorts of land...
...near US missile silos. Yeah, that's not idea. Fortunately, a sane view appeared out of the White House:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/us-to-force-c...WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House on Monday gave a Chinese-linked company and its partners 120 days to sell property they had bought near a U.S. Air Force base in Wyoming that is home to part of the U.S. nuclear arsenal, citing fears of spying.
The move comes as the United States has become increasingly concerned about the national security risks posed by Chinese-led purchases of American property near sensitive military sites. This land buying thing has been happening for some years now; finally something's being done about it. Good for Team Biden.

I do have to tip my cap to the Chinese, because this is a nice touch:
MineOne Partners Limited, which is owned by Chinese nationals, partnered with other companies to buy real estate for cryptocurrency mining in June 2022, the White House said.
"mining cryptocurrency" means essentially putting a server farm (handy if what you're really doing is processing data) right next to the bases.

Agreed.
I'm glad he's got the Left shutting up about China.
Liberals were China's servant in the 90's and beyond and others got shouted down as "protectionist! ""isolationist!" "cant be fortress America" etc.
But the Liberals have grown up. If the Dow is up - they'll be fine with everything else.
Their selling out to the man is complete, they urinate on John Lennon's grave, and are in bed with Lizzy and Halliburton and Goldman Sachs now.
Kinky.

I've long thought that if you aren't a citizen, you shouldn't be able to own land. That should be a perk reserved for citizens only.
Several countries have similar rules.

Agree, it is just common sense. You do realize this is a form of Putting America First, which will cause some to label you xenophobic.

It has its pros and cons. Outsiders aren't buying up land and speculating, so the price of land doesn't ratchet up quickly in areas. I thought a compromise would be fine, where we allow them to buy areas in industrial parks, etc. Leave the housing to us.
We actually have a pathway to citizenship that requires a $6 million(?) investment ( not sure if that's the right amount, but close methinks). Foreigners do get scammed on that.
The Philippines has rules that you can't own land (one or two designated areas in the entire country), you can lease land, and you can own a condo, but only 40% of the condos in a project can be owned. It has a paragraph in its laws to cover foreign ownership that is a wonder to read, it seems to cover everything, and one part of it I still question what it means. :)
This leads to some attorneys hustling you with tales that you can own it in a corporation, etc., powers of attorneys, daisy chain entity ownership - none of it works in court. Corporations have to have Filipinos in them to work. Outside of a condo, if you marry a Filipina, you can get the equivalent of a Life Estate, which at least allows you to stay there, but expats have been murdered to get it.
Possibly a state can enact that legislation on its own.
