Democrats At 35-Year Low, WSJ Poll Finds

"BY AARON ZITNER

The Democratic Party’s image has eroded to its lowest point in more than three decades, according to a new Wall Street Journal poll, with voters seeing Republicans as better at handling most issues that decide elections.

The new survey finds that 63% of voters hold an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party—the highest share in Journal polls dating to 1990 and 30 points higher than the 33% who hold a favorable view."

Winning!

This was posted on the wrong board by someone who I think wants to annoy Mungofitch.

The Dem party where I am seems to be comatose. They don't seem to manage the FB groups well, and that's where it's at, methinks. I told them it was too difficult to figure out if there was anything going on for activities. That people would post an activity but not do @everyone or @highlight and therefore whether people saw it was up to the algorithm. I consider the algo hostile to what I want to see. I have to drive over and talk to the single lady at the office to find out. :) So we're in disarray in my county - we look good, but we suck on getting the word out.

Plus, I realize all pollies have feet of clay and I don't expect much from them. At my level one fellow piqued my interest when he point edout I was paying for improvements for an area where I didn't live and were being made so the developer could build and sell houses there. He's interesting. Why not price it in for the developer, so they pay for their own fire station? Oh my god! I may get interested in local stuff.

Very misleading.

Your country (outside of 401Kville) is not content. Part of it is the socioeconomic shit you people peddled for decades. Part of it is family breakdown and a departure from many socioeconomic traditions and norms.

So whether Trump is in power or Dems are in power, there is true structural unrest.

Biden's economic numbers were awesome...... and people thought it was all misery.

Give it time.....barring a major uptick in housing sales spurred on by public policy.....Trump numbers will indeed be in the shitter-----especially if Republicans stick to the Medicaid and ACA policies.

At that point.....

It's a question of - do you want a 50.1% win and shout here how you beat MAGA?

OR do you want a governing majority that gets a few big things done that lasts a generation or so.

For the first time in my life, I feel like i am indeed seeing Rome all over again.

I'm worried. Not now -- now, we are still ahead of all the sissy mary countries of the world. By a mile.

But culture and human capital - is DEPRECIATING in your country.

And it's happening fast.

I guess i'm weak today -- i dont like to see it especially when I feel that we have a chance to fix it - maybe if we do it within the next 10 years after which, has-been status is coming and i don't give a shit just how great our tech companies are.

Gaming out the future is not “weakness”. Your concerns are valid.

I’ve been really ruminating about next steps for anyone who wants to truly effect the sort of change we will need.

Here’s one avenue- wresting control of Democratic Party from corporate interests- AT THE LOCAL PRECINCT level.

https://open.substack.com/pub/thomhartmann/p/this-...

The idea isn’t novel by any stretch. This was precisely Ralph Reed’s strategy in the 1990s, as well as the Tea Party’s strategy in the late 2000 aughts- before they were coopted by corporate interests.

A strategy fraught with danger, but holding the key to true, effective change- wresting control of the Democratic Party away from corporate, milquetoast control…… at the local level.

Only then can a national Democratic Party begin to speak with authority about its agenda for America, because it will be based upon what a significant portion of “We the People” say is THEIR agenda.

The Tea Party- a great example of the right strategy, but also a great example of the danger of corporate capture.

Following the strategy while avoiding the danger. That’s the task. It might even be an impossible task, but from where I’m standing, it seems to be the only way forward.

85% of young men support Zohran Mamdani.
79% of young women support Zohran Mamdani.
67% of Jewish people aged 18-44 support Zohran Mamdani.
65% of Black people aged 18-44 support Zohran Mamdani.

Would you have guessed any of that with how the media has covered all this?
