Dope1: Wray's responses were hedged and he didn't directly answer the question...just as you'd expect a swamp creature to act.

So Trump's hand-picked FBI Director, a lifelong republican, is a "swamp creature"?

Wray was specific. Here's the detailed exchange:

GAETZ: "Since you are the FBI Director, I was wondering, like, who's running the country? If something bad happened, he would have to go brief the president right now, God forbid.

WRAY: "On any number of occasions, I have briefed the president and those briefings have all been uneventful and unremarkable."

GAETZ: "I can imagine them being uneventful in the work with the vice president. You said more than half the time she's there?"

WRAY: "I don't think I said more than half the time. There have been times when she is present and other times she is not."

GAETZ: "This is the most complicated threat environment you've observed over your career of law enforcement and I'm kind of wondering with this assassination attempt and the invasion at the border, and Hamas that has been let in and been briefed about is Joe Biden up to it? And if he's not up to it and you are the guy who is regularly briefing him, like who has been in on this conspiracy to hide the real Joe Biden from all of us for years? It never occurred to you that he was not up to it and all these briefings that you did?"

WRAY: "My briefings with the president have all been fine."
