We did the Brits a solid in the '80s. Now? Let's quote Keir Starmer: Not our war, not our problem.

We did the Brits a solid in the '80s.

I have vented about that before. No, Saint Reagan did NOT do the Brits a "solid". He provided some intelligence and logistics support, but no more. A lot of Brits died, because Saint Reagan would not send a carrier group to provide adequate air cover and surveillance radar.

Now? Let's quote Keir Starmer: Not our war, not our problem.

The Falklands is sovereign UK territory. Invasion would be a clear Article 5 situation, as opposed to the US initiating a war with Iran, then demanding NATO support USian aggression.

But, like a lot of "JCs", Trump the Conqueror lives in his alternate reality.

Yes, Milei is supposed to be buddies with Trump, but, more importantly, as discussed before, a base in the Falklands would give Trump the Conqueror control of traffic around the Cape. And, like Gitmo, once the US had installed itself in the Falklands, Argentina would not be able to get rid of it.

So we should have declared war on Argentina over the Falklands? Not a great plan.

The Falklands is sovereign UK territory. Invasion would be a clear Article 5 situation, as opposed to the US initiating a war with Iran, then demanding NATO support USian aggression.

Except the NATO treaty has other articles in it. Specifically, Article 6 which defines the geographic reach of Article 5:

https://www.nato.int/en/about-us/official-texts-an...

Article 6 1
For the purpose of Article 5, an armed attack on one or more of the Parties is deemed to include an armed attack:

on the territory of any of the Parties in Europe or North America, on the Algerian Departments of France 2, on the territory of Turkey or on the Islands under the jurisdiction of any of the Parties in the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer; on the forces, vessels, or aircraft of any of the Parties, when in or over these territories or any other area in Europe in which occupation forces of any of the Parties were stationed on the date when the Treaty entered into force or the Mediterranean Sea or the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer.

Nope. Not covered.

Not our war, not our problem.

Bush #41 didn't hesitate to make war on Iraq, when Saddam invaded Kuwait. Remember Bush's "this will not stand" speech?

Nope. Not covered.

OK, I'll agree with you on that point.
