Clintons and Bidens accepted plenty of foreign money.
Nothing on the Trumps' scale, of course. So yes Trump deserves special opprobrium.

Just fair to point out that Dems are hardly paragons of virtue. Politicians feather their own nests regardless of party.

Scale of the corruption.

And the boldness of it.

Yeah, I'm accepting the gift. Only suckers wouldn't accept the gift.

And the Republican Party seems to be fine with it- with only a handful of notable and praiseworthy exceptions.

Hell, they're even defending it and making excuses for it.

Been watching the 747 thing with a lot of amusement because all the Super Duper Hot Takes have been hilarious.

First, Boeing doesn't make the 747 anymore. They hadn't made any airliners out of it in fact for years. The last one that anyone bought was a cargo plane and that was in 2023.

Now, Air Force One. The AF actually has 2 of these jets. Both date from the late 1980's, so these are tired airframes with a lot of miles on them. Plans for upgrades and replacements have been in the works for a long time:

The President's planes are showing their age but a new one is going to take a while.

Headshot of Eric LimerBy Eric LimerPublished: Oct 19, 2015 11:11 AM EDT

Let's note the date on this article.

According to The New York Times, the Department of Defense is currently trying to button up a contract for the next iteration of Air Force One mainstays. The current pair—first flown in 1987—are modified Boeing 747-200Bs, a model that was initially introduced way back in 1971 but hasn't been in production since 1991. Replacement parts are no longer manufactured, leaving the Air Force with the trouble of having them custom made.

And when would the new replacements arrive?

The new planes, which may not go into service until as late as 2023, will be based off Boeings 747-8 design, a much-updated version of the 747 that has the same engines and cockpit electronics as the 787, aka the Dreamliner.

Well that didn't happen.

Next, let's talk about the AF1 program itself. Being from Seattle and knowing a zillion people at Boeing, you bet I know a few folks attached to the AF1 program. It's been...a ride for them. Turns out the Air Force wanted some rather insane requirements and has been bombarding Boeing with silly requirements and change orders for years.

There are so many delays that Trump said 'where's my plane' and sent DOGE and Elon Musk in person out to visit the AF1 folks (they're not doing the work in Seattle) in San Antonio.

You might ask, "Why didn't Elon just cancel the thing right then and there since Boeing is so obviously incompetent?" It's because of... the Air Force's changing (and absurd) requirements.

So there you go.

They need a backup Air Force 1.
Boeing doesn't make them any more.
Replacement parts are difficult.
A newer plane was in discussions for a while.

Just fair to point out that Dems are hardly paragons of virtue.

LOL! MAGA trots out their old favorite, Whataboutism (also called whataboutery)...
Yes, Donald Trump's corruption is truly breathtaking, but Dems don't have a leg to stand on because nine years ago,
it was revealed that their presidential nominee had used a private email server to send risotto recipes to her daughter...

Whataboutism is closely related to the tu quoque ("you too") fallacy, a subtype of the ad hominem argument.
It attempts to undermine the critic’s position by accusing them of similar or worse behavior, rather than addressing the substance of the original criticism.
This is generally considered a logical fallacy because:
1) Even if the counter-accusation is true, it does not refute or excuse the original wrongdoing.
2) It distracts from the issue at hand, often derailing productive discussion.
Most uses of whataboutism are attempts to avoid accountability and do not address the original argument.

Hilarious that Dumbass Dope thinks all of the complaining is just about a new Air Force One.

No linksw?

When did the discussions turn from replacement to a gift?

Who and when thought up the idea that the plane would go to Trump's presidential library at the end of his term?

So we're still in discussions for a newer plane because this plane is actually a gift to Trump and disappears when he leaves at the end of his term?

Haha, still living rent free in your head, I see.
I am very much now what is completely out of fashion, a rational centrist. I detest Trump, but not all right wing ideas like bringing down the national debt, cutting the welfare state that is becoming unaffordable, and being fiscally responsible. None of which Trump is doing, which is why I don't like him.
Nobody likes to take bitter medicine, and yet that is what US currently needs, unfortunately. Everything needs to be cut, defense, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, especially. The road to hell, and bankruptcy, is paved with good intentions.
The federal government used to be 20% of the budget, now it's 26% with a 6% deficit. That is unsustainable without hyperinflation. I don't want to live in poverty because some head in the clouds right wing and left wing nutjobs captured the government.

Oh yeah, forgot my homework.

The Clinton Foundation accepted donations from various countries, including Australia, the Dominican Republic, Kuwait, Norway, Qatar, Oman, Algeria, and the United Kingdom.

Biden of course had his son on Burisma. I'm sure his technical expertise was worth $5 million.

I never said Obama, but then reading comprehension is not Umm's strong suit.

Good for the Clinton Foundation. It was founded in 2001, after Bill Clinton was President.

Biden of course had his son on Burisma. I'm sure his technical expertise was worth $5 million.

No, Biden did not have his son on the Burisma board . Hunter did that all on his own.

You might also check the dates of when Biden was in office and when Hunter was on Burisma board. In any case, bad on Hunter and may he be brought together with the consequences of his actions that were illegal. But Comer investigated the heck out of that one for years and no indictments were forthcoming. Perhaps Comer refrained from doing so out of the goodness of his heart? Or perhaps he knew there was nothing on which to base an indictment and the whole issue best served as a pile of nothing burger that was grumbled about for five years and convinced the credulous that the Biden family was a crime family… even though the entire matter was nothing more than false associations and unsupported allegations

The Trumps are doing it all out in the open. Trump IS president and his sons ARE
grifting- and they are all doing their criming out in the open, 24/7. All of them are lying, corrupt sacks of evil shit.

Saddam, Uday and Qusay.

Give them another year or two. They will match the perversion.

"Oh yeah, forgot my homework."

You failed your homework. Badly. Perhaps you might want to do your homework before commenting. You won't look as much of an idiot.

"The Clinton Foundation accepted donations from various countries, including Australia, the Dominican Republic, Kuwait, Norway, Qatar, Oman, Algeria, and the United Kingdom."

1. The Clinton Foundation was founded after Clinton was out of office.
2. The Clinton Foundation was a charity. The Clintons did not benefit from it at all. Before commenting about it being a charity but it benefitting them (i.e. some of the nonsense your sources of information fill your head with), do your homework. They are taking advantage of you.

"Biden of course had his son on Burisma. I'm sure his technical expertise was worth $5 million."

More failure. When did Hunter work for Burisma? When was Hunter ever in office?

"I never said Obama, but then reading comprehension is not Umm's strong suit."

My fault. I will give you that one point. You got me misreading a post too quickly while you destroy the country with your ignorance. That probably makes us even in your dumbass head.

"Haha, still living rent free in your head, I see."

Dumbass Dope used to say stupid stuff like that when he was losing an argument too. You are in bad company. He has turned himself into a board joke. You still have a chance to do better.

"I am very much now what is completely out of fashion, a rational centrist."

There is literally nothing rational about your worldview. You constantly use sources that make you look like a complete idiot and leave you completely unable to accurately describe the viewpoints of others. A rational person would get better sources when the current ones he is using prove to be so consistently wrong, but for some reason you don't.

"I detest Trump, but not all right wing ideas like bringing down the national debt, cutting the welfare state that is becoming unaffordable, and being fiscally responsible. None of which Trump is doing, which is why I don't like him."

You liked him enough to vote for him despite all of the warning signs being there for anyone willing to open their eyes and look.

"Nobody likes to take bitter medicine, and yet that is what US currently needs, unfortunately. Everything needs to be cut, defense, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, especially. The road to hell, and bankruptcy, is paved with good intentions."

I agree with this, but what you fail to realize is that you are part of the problem that is causing it. As a country we cannot have rational conversations about the problems facing the country because people like you always fall for idiotic soundbites that your political masters feed you because you are too dumb or lazy to get better sources of information.

"I don't want to live in poverty because some head in the clouds right wing and left wing nutjobs captured the government."

Then stop being part of the problem of ignorance. Stop using sources of information that don't inform you but instead feed your outrage. Educate yourself.
