with all the NVDA hype>>>extremely high quality Co's with high ROIC and ROE with huge moats at less than 20x E's.....RARE
"I dunno, maybe someone else does?
But FWIW, based on simple trailing P/E (which is pretty smooth for Hershey), at $187.93 today it's 23% cheaper than the average valuation level since 2001.
It has been cheaper than this, on this simple metric, less than 1% of the time.
EPS rose 9.37%/year in the last 22.7 years. Add dividends to get the notional value generation rate.
Maybe their days of being a big success are over, but I suspect not." Mungofitch

M*:
"Returns on invested capital, including goodwill, have consistently exceeded our 7% weighted average cost of capital estimate by 3-4 times, averaging 25% the past five years. We forecast that ROICs will average a similar level over the next 10 years, supporting our stance regarding the firm's wide economic moat."

Make it more difficult, HSY or DG?
Trying to pick my current duds? I'm touched.
Picking what Mr Buffett is buying is a mug's game. But hey, you gotta play the game. Morgan Stanley?

Jim,
Do you consider DG a dud? It’s up something like 20% since your call, no? I might be a bit off on that but that seems hardly a dud. Maybe below your expectations?

I will take that bet. :-)

Well, no, just exaggerating. It's a dud compared to a lot of things. I think I'm still slightly underwater because I started buying earlier than my "call".
I still expect good things, but I rarely have an opinion about the short term.
