The U.S. Senate parliamentarian has blocked Republican plans to use U.S. President Donald Trump's $3T tax bill to strip funding from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, cut Federal Reserve salaries, among other setbacks, according to a media report published on Friday.
The Senate rules-keeper ruled that the proposed measures fell outside the fast-track budget process, which is designed for bills focused mainly on taxes and spending, not for broader policy overhauls, Senate Democrats said, Bloomberg reported.

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5363923-senate...The Senate parliamentarian has rejected several more provisions in the Republican megabill to enact President Trump’s agenda, including language authorizing states to conduct border security and immigration enforcement, which traditionally have been duties of the federal government.
Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough also ruled against language in the bill that would increase the Federal Employees Retirement Systems contribution rate for new civil servants if they do not agree to give up civil service protections to become at-will employees.

But I've read that the parliamentarian's rejections can be overridden by Congress. If true, will they just go ahead regardless?

I remember when I used to be pretty annoyed by the Senate parliamentarian when she prevented the dems from getting things passed. Now I'm very glad they exist. 😊

https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/verify/verify-c...Yes, the Senate can vote to essentially overrule the Parliamentarian's recommendation, although this would likely take 60 votes, in order to waive the point of order.
Some of our experts believe that this recommendation can be over-ruled with a simple majority, by using the nuclear option, to essentially set a new precedent. This is not accepted by all our experts.

Just saw a list of what she wanted axed. She has a point on a couple of things, for others, it's not her call. For example, she says that some things in the bill have minor budgetary impacts...uhhh, that's not your job to make that determination.
