The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Another quote from Judge Luttig, if I may. This one closer to the end of his letter, found here:

documentcloud.org - Luttig endorsement

In voting for Vice President Harris, I assume that her public policy views are vastly different from my own, but I am indifferent in this election as to her policy views on any issues other than America’s Democracy, the Constitution, and the Rule of Law, as I believe all Americans should be.

In the 2024 election for President of the United States, there are no more important issues for America.

This is exactly what I have been saying for quite a while. This election is not about trivial policy differences between liberals and conservatives. It is about the preservation of American democracy.

Heck, it's why I left the Republican party about 8 years ago. In the judge's paraphrased words, Trump is singularly unfit for the Presidency. That is as obvious now as it was almost 4 years ago on Jan 6, 2021, or 8 years ago when the Republican party nominated him as their candidate, or 12 years ago when he ran a trial balloon in the 2012 election, or more than 20 years ago when "The Simpsons" parodied him as the President.
