I just tried scheduling Covid and flu vaxx at CVS - Covid not available. I'll stop by Walgreens on the way back and see if they allow it. If I die of Covid, I'm coming back to haunt RFK jr.

I had an apppointment at CVS "minute clinic" that i confirmed had the Pfizer Vax. I was in the store. And ok yes i'm prickly. The peopel were so drab, so lifeless, typical InstaGram generation attititudes and frankly, I don't like the whole sign in on your phone and click the kiosk shit.

So I called the ACME grocery store pharmacy whre I got multiple shots previously, real person (not of the whazzup Instagram generation) nicely picked up the phone,, confirmed availability and just said 'come in anytime, we're here for you.

20 mins later I was there, filled out the handwritten form and vax done.

Wife and kids got there's done last night. I just marked "autoimmune' on all the forms, nobody questioned it. It's true for me and Wifey - for kids thankfully it was not true.

As usual we're all vaccinated.

I have a fear of doing two shits the same day so in a week or so i'll go get flu shot too.

Some enjoy cheap eggs but they gotta eat them from the grave cause they were "anti vax".

That's not my style.

We got orders from our PCP, and the pharmacy has them in-stock. So we'll probably get them today. Along with the flu.

Evidently, my MIL can't get it because she doesn't have an order. Only people with orders get them, no matter their age. I thought over 65 was "ok" regardless, but apparently not.

I went down to pick up meds, and the counter folk said they do Covid for RXs. I'm going to Walgreens later and will take a letter from my Doc, not the prescription, just a letter, telling me to get the shot. I already got the flu shot, but I'd like Covid. I have to talk to the staff because his records show I got RSV in 2022 and mine don't. I think their records may be right. Good thing I'm retired and can run around when I want to.

Got the shot yesterday. Moderna. As expected, feel like crap today. Light-headed, tired. And if I try to eat, I get a bit nauseated. This will last a few days, if prior shots are any indication.

Also go the flu.

1poorlady got flu, RSV, and COVID. She was eligible for RSV this year. I got mine two years ago. One and done for that one.

I got the flu shot yesterday. I had RSV in 2023 and I'm not due, It was in my records, which I changed so I could read it better. I went to Walgreens, showed them the letter, and they said that would suffice, but they don't have any Covid shots and don't know when they'll get any. CVS has it, but they want a prescription - the letter won't do. So tomorrow it is! :)

My wife and I are getting flu shots in a week or two. Pharmacist said this year’s formulation should last longer than prior years.

COVID? We’ve gotten boosters all along, but pharmacist said this year, guidance from CDC has been garbled and uncertain. And because of that, insurance companies have been slow to say whether they will cover it. Blue Cross will cover, but Medicare?

Will know more (hopefully) in October.

I tt my Dr's office this am, and they'd never heard of an Rx being required. i told the Walgreens accepted the letter but didn't have any word when they might get Covid shots. They called down and confirmed. The upshot is the Drs office is forwarding this upstairs - they need cya it seems. So I'm in limbo, I will get it, but I'm the guinea pig on them working out the policies and procedures.

Ain't Florida wunnerful! :)

The pharmacist explained to us that it is FDA approved, but some AZ agency hasn't yet issued an approval. So you need a doctor's order to get it. Once the AZ agency issues approval, you won't need it.

Never even heard of that before. But that's what she said.

Starting to feel mostly normal again. Had very little appetite yesterday, light-headed, slight fever, easily chilled. Today, just really tired and unmotivated. I'm guessing I'll be back to normal tomorrow.

Ain't Florida wunnerful! :)

I mosied over for my flu shot today. Asked about the covid shot, and mentioned that some folks who post here have reported having trouble getting it. News to the pharmacy folks here in Michigan, at least at Meijer. The guy did wonder what the ages are of the people having trouble. I said that, all I knew, was the latest report was from Florida.

Steve...over 65, so still covered by the CDC's recommendation

We thought about getting our Covid/Flu shots late Friday, 9/5, went to our Safeway Pharmacy website, made appointments for both us the next day, a choice of times, we both picked the same time, went in Saturday, bang, bang, done, didn't need cards, paperwork because we'd answered all the questions online. Easy, no side affects... Pharmacist offered either Pfizer, or Maderna, even a later Maderna, so we went for it... They've been good, last year I did Covid, Flu & Tetanus at the same time..

Sit;; need to do the Shingles double shots, so far it looks like Costco may be the cheapest, ~$250 per shot... If only medicare covered it, will find out one of these days...

Sit;; need to do the Shingles double shots,

I got mine back in 22, when I got back to the USA. Knew an antivaxx fellow who swore up and down that he'd never been sick a day in his life and never vaxxed. I covered with him that most people don't remember all the vaxxes they get. I remember vividly getting one that itched like all hell though. :) But he realized he'd had chickenpox young and had no memory of it. He said he would get Shingrix as soon as he got near it, Shingles was so painful.

But is your insurance/Medicare covering it?

As long as the CDC recommends it, Medicare (conventional, in my case) should cover it. I'll find out next month. I don't like stacking vaxes, so, I'll give the flu vax some time to fizz, before being jabbed again.

74 here, so the requirement for an Rx is annoying.

The Rx requirement apparently varies from state to state.

As of 4 days ago, Michigan does not require an Rx, or note from the Doc.

Apparently, right now, Medicare will cover it. An FDA committee meets on Sept 18th to decide whether to require insurance to cover it, or ration the vax by ability to pay.

We got our shingrix while we were still working. Fully covered. Don't know how Medicare handles it, but I would assume also fully covered(?).

Don't know how Medicare handles it, but I would assume also fully covered(?).

Unclear to us, when we've looked, it's partially covered, bringing the shots below $300/per, but we have to get more serious about them, not this week, too many other appointments, some I'd postponed due to a variety of problems, so this week, 4 or 5 appointments... Going to be a long week..

We both had shingles when we were much younger, still working, but even then, it wasn't covered, but was only $110 at the time... Needs to be done, tho... My Doc at the time talked of one of his patients, nothing would relieve the pain except alcohol, ended up killing him, sadly.. But ours were mild, I think it was acyclovir that stopped mine, went back to work, slightly sagging eyebrow, but no pain... Others, not so lucky...
