Just a follow-up on something in 2020/21 heavily and with rage discussed here: The origin of Covid. (Wuhan) Lab theory versus Zoonose (Wuhan animal market).

I recommend everyone remembering the enraged discussions in this forum to watch this video, the testimony of James Erdman III, Senior Operations Officer at the Central Intelligence Agency, before the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs entitled “Whistleblower Testimony on the COVID Coverup.”.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iKFaL8qPbM&t=606s

It´s highly enlightening re commonly shared and distributed narratives and suppressed contrarian voices. Together with many more facts that came out the last years it's late justification for the ones then accused of spreading a conspiracy theory.

That happened to me here while arguing that a chain of facts point to the Lab theory: That in 2018 the EcoHealth Alliance and the Wuhan Institute of Virology submitted to the DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) a proposal to grant funding for "Gain-of-Function" research to insert a "Furin cleavage site" into bat coronaviruses --- which is exactly the anomaly of the Corona virus which makes it so dangerous, so highly infectious.

"Of course" that was dismissed here in those let´s say very "strong" discussions. Conspiracy theory nonsense, obviously, as it was contrary to what Fauci etc. were claiming to be "scientific consent". It was not. It was the consent of scientists carefully selected by Fauci, as James Erdman III is testifying.

Not everything that is mentally disturbing and is contrary to common narratives is a ridiculous "Conspiracy Theorie" of flat-eathers.

Even CrankyCharlie with all he wrote about Bill Gates which I laughed about seems to have had a point, far more than I did admit to myself, simply because it was uncomfortable to do so, shattering my black-and-white thinking (still thinking Gates was/is one of humankinds greatest benefactor, but ......).

There is no black-and-white.

Reminds me of a tale I read recently.

Guy dies, and shows up at the Pearly Gates.

He's welcomed by St. Peter, and told he can ask one, and one only, question and get an honest answer.

Guy asks: "Who really killed JFK?"

St Peter replies: "Lee Harvey Oswald, acting alone."

Guy says: "Boy this conspiracy goes even higher than I thought."

Just a follow-up on something in 2020/21 heavily and with rage discussed here: The origin of Covid. (Wuhan) Lab theory versus Zoonose (Wuhan animal market).

I think it's important to realize that there are actually three narratives there. Two shades of grey in your first choice, if you will.

(a) natural crossover, dominated by but not exclusive to the wet market (the "horse" theory)
(b) lab escape of a naturally occurring virus that they were studying (the "zebra" theory)
(c) lab escape of a virus they created, often characterized as a bioweapon (the "pegasus" theory)

I have in the past expressed the opinion that (c) leans towards the conspiracy theory end of things, which I stand by. Option (a) has always sounded pretty reasonable. But, given the number of lab leaks that occur every few years, nobody would call (b) impossible. It's really depressing how often it happens, and not just in China, I wouldn't rule it out on first principles.

The hard thing is distinguishing between (b) "the Chinese government destroyed a lot of evidence and kept things secret so nobody would insult China by suggesting they were in any way at fault", versus (b) "the Chinese government destroyed a lot of evidence and kept things secret so nobody could show that Chinese researchers were in fact at fault". It's quite possible the people burning the notes don't even know which it was. Never risk making your boss look bad.

This is comedy gold. We’re still debating where this virus came from?

I remember not too long ago, all the news worth reading was in a few newspapers. Today, none of it is. Everything is on the record and covered in emails and it is printed already. Everyone in Congress (a body, you’ll recall, that was exempted from taking the shot) with an IQ over 100 knows.

Many over the age of fifty just cannot adjust. Don’t want to. There’s absolutely zero doubt where this virus came from. You can find the story all over the place and this testimony is just fodder for conspiracists. It is too vague. The story is very simple and very obvious and easy to understand — similar to watching the bait get swallowed. Jim Jones would be proud.

For those pretending not to know, that’s just narcissistic ego protection.

You know. I know. Everyone reading this board should know by now. Let’s just go with fool me once, shame on me. That’s a better look.

It’s a bit like pretending that the secret sauce of Berkshire was buying great businesses that grow. Huh. It was float + capital allocation. We got the float. The most important business that needed to grow has grown. There is some hang-up regarding not shrinking the canvas. We’ll see how long it lasts.

It is somewhat fitting that the new leader of Berkshire is named Abel (and maddening, but telling, that half the Berkophiles spell it Able).

We need clear thinking if Berk owners are not to end up resembling a flock of sheep.
