As she should be. What happened at the Trump rally was a stunning failure, despite some attempting to deny that fact:

Cheatle admitted the Secret Service 'failed' on July 13She likely went into her hearing expecting some support from the democrats...and that didn't happen.

Yep. If someone gets a clear line of sight on a protectee and is able to shoot at them a half dozen times, then your agency has failed catastrophically. That cannot happen without something having gone horribly wrong that should not have gone wrong.
She was always going to have to resign. Had she done a halfway decent job finding out and explaining what went wrong, she might have held her job a few weeks more. The investigation into this will require both the perspective of the people who screwed it up and independent folks who come in to figure out for themselves how the former people screwed it up. So if she had been useful in presenting the story of the people who screwed it up (including herself), she might have been allowed to finish up that task. She wasn't, so she was no longer of any use to anyone, and had to go.

Not unlike Trump's complete mismanagement of the Covid-19 response that left over one million Americans dead. Or Trump's hours-long non-response to the violence on January 6. Of course, the difference is that democrats refused to provide a single voice of support for Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle while MAGA republicans, years later, still claim Trump did a marvelous job with the pandemic and insist that innocent tourists were wrongly convicted for their role on January 6, are now hostages, and that Trump should not be prosecuted for conspiracy to defraud the United States and conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding.

now let's ditch the person that insists on insecure open-air reichsland rallies, and advises attendees with weapons be allowed through the metal detectors.
a billionaire can surely afford his own hand-selected security team that will follow all his expert instructions, correct?
oh wait, he loses grifting the FREE secret service on overcharges at all trump facilities....nevermind.
