“ASHLAND — Ashland County Fair officials booted the Ashland County Democratic Party booth on Thursday following the political party’s sale of “offensive buttons” directed toward President Donald Trump.

The Ashland County Fair posted on Facebook around 8 p.m. on Thursday that it had been “made aware of offensive buttons in the Democrat booth.”

“The Ashland County Fair Board would like to let you know this afternoon we were made aware of offensive buttons in the Democrat booth. We are a family friendly fair and do not condone this from any vendor/merchant. We apologize for those who saw the display. The democrat party has been asked to pack their booth up for this year so they will not be here the remaining of our Fair week. This is not political, we just can't have this at our County Fair!”

This article does have a pic of the buttons in question, with slogans like "is he dead yet?" and "one day we will wake up to his obit". Given the number of people of influence being attacked/killed, I'm inclined to agree, the buttons were tasteless, and some nutter might interpret them as an invitation to make it happen. I do not agree with the booth being entirely shut down, but suppression of dissenting speech is how Shinyland rolls these days.

I don't like that. The WA state fair people screwed around with the Republican booth also, and it was wrong when they did it.

Unless the buttons were wildly inappropriate then we shouldn't be doing that kind of thing.

I agree. There are plenty of ways to express opposition to dictatorial rule, and support Constitutional rights and democratic process, without wishing for someone's death.

Sure enough, we just had a month of Sundays and a blue moon.
