Although I know of know of no other case (though I'm sure they exist), Letitia James did in fact campaign for her position as New York State Attorney General on a promise to look into Trump's dealings:

But I don't see this as being any more problematic than any other elected official promising to do something within their power once elected, and then actually doing it. Plus, the indictment of Trump was ultimately still the result of a grand jury finding the case credible.
