The week's question
In March 2025, in the thread "Re: OT, out", Umm asked the members: "Do you think it is because America is made up of magical soil that makes businesses based in America magically profitable?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

It is so hard being the stupidest Senator from Missouri when your only competition is Josh Hawley, but you gotta admit Schmitt is really giving it a go.

Hawley is many things - jerk, liar, coward - but stupid might not be one of them:

Hawley studied history at Stanford University, where his mother was an alumna.[11] He graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with highest honors and Phi Beta Kappa membership.[11][13] He studied under professor David M. Kennedy, who later contributed the foreword to Hawley's book Theodore Roosevelt: Preacher of Righteousness.[14] Kennedy said Hawley stood out in a school "which is overstuffed with overachieving and very talented young people"[12] and called him "arguably the most gifted student I taught in 50 years".[11]

[ ...yeah, I guess the professor who wrote the forward to Hawley's book might be a little biased. ]
