Condolences? Why is the U.S. sending condolences for Raisi’s death?

Raisi ordered protesters be killed. He oversaw the systematic rape of women - and demanded gay men be hanged and thrown off buildings.

After all, why not? This is what we're down to these days.

We've always engaged in diplomatic niceties. You send condolences when a head of state dies in office. Bush's State Department sent condolences when Arafat died. Ronald Reagan - the OG Cold Warrior - sent condolences when Yuri Andropov died. It's what you do.
