The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Just nine days after Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch was confirmed, a buyer -- a partner in a law firm with an especially heavy Supreme Court practice -- bought a property of his that had languished on the market for several years. He "did not disclose the identity of the purchaser. That box was left blank" on his required disclosure form.

Gorsuch managed to declare the names of the individuals who gifted him a fishing rod, a watercolor painting, and cowboy boots.

But the identity of the person who bought his $1.8 million property?

Nope.

The buyer? The chief executive of Greenberg Traurig, one of the nation's biggest law firms with a robust practice before the high court.

Since then, Greenberg Traurig has been involved in at least 22 cases before or presented to the court, according to a POLITICO review of the court's docket.

They include cases in which Greenberg either filed amicus briefs or represented parties. In the 12 cases where Gorsuch's opinion is recorded, he sided with Greenberg Traurig clients eight times and against them four times.

First Clarence Thomas, now Neil Gorsuch.

Well, the Beatles said money can't buy you love buy maybe it can buy you a supreme court justice.
