The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

"I think he knows it’s the poor people that got him elected, so I think Trump is going to do more to help us."

Truly staggering that any working class person would think that. It is so easy to find examples of Trump screwing over working class people, that it is blind and willful ignorance on their part to believe in Trump will fix it fairy tale.

Hate to say it, but the working class, or at least the retired-from-working-class people are going to need to feel some pain from cuts that Elon and Vivek are going to influence Trump and MAGA congress to enact.

I just watched this vid from More Perfect Union. Interviewed fair attendees in a deep Red
corner of SW Michigan. A small number of them get it, but the majority are pro Trump and
think he is going to fix everything, not loot and pillage everything. I totally get
people being fed up. But to me it's not an R vs D thing, it's an Elite vs Everyone-Else
thing. And the Elite have the masses eating out of their hands, they own the minds of the working class, for the most part. I don't see any way out of this, other than working class feeling some real pain. And I'm talking working class retirees. The actual younger people who are still working are going to find out too, when they wake up at 65 years old and see that there are no social programs like Medicare.
