...can't see the looming threat in front of their noses.

Three-quarters of Republicans think economy is priority over climate ' poll

Survey finds 53% of Americans think addressing climate crisis should be given priority but 72% of Republicans say otherwise

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/aug/03/re...

But, the NPR poll showed, the percentage of Republicans who think the economy should be given priority regardless is up 13 points since 2018.

More than half of respondents (56%) said climate change was a major threat. More than two-thirds of Republicans (70%) said it was a minor threat or no threat at all. Among Republicans, 43% said climate change would have no serious impact on their communities.

"...no serious impact on their communities."

Maybe in the short term and maybe that's all they care about.

Surf's up!

(This is just one more problem that trivialization stymies solutions for)

Too Late.

One would think that watching insurance companies declining to write policies in high risk states (those pesky actuaries don't know that climate change is a lefty hoax) would get the attention of Republicans.

Even FatDon has joined in the fun, ribbing DeSanctimonious for Florida's insurance woes.

FatDOn ought to use his billions to start 'Trump Insurance.' I'm sure his Floridian base would flock to pay premiums to him.

"Come home, Ron, where you belong. Get those insurance rates way down, because what's happening in Florida shouldn't happen anywhere." - The FatDon

Florida's insurance market, which has been unstable since the 90s, has grown even more volatile in recent years. According to industry estimates, the average price of homeowners' insurance premiums has more than doubled since DeSantis took office in 2019, and more than a dozen insurers have become insolvent in the state during that time. Earlier this month, Farmers Insurance announced that it would end its home and auto coverage in Florida entirely.
