I thought we backed out of Salton Sea Lithium due to a patent dispute with the DOE, but I was wrong. Looks like we simply lost the DOE grant (which wasn't much $ anyway). Also, it seems that our new method of extracting Lithium wasn't as viable as hoped for. So we're back to a proven method which is a more expensive method (as I understand it)...

I see that lithium prices have plunged 5-10 fold since the first of the year. The glut is attributed to slowing of the Chinese EV market, but from a geologist's point of view, the markets always underestimate what geologists and engineers can do if enough money is waved under their noses. Be skeptical of resource shortages as a long term limiting factor. The Salton Sea might be the next great thing but it is also likely that it is never developed.
