People have forgotten just how devastating the situation was with trailer trucks pulling up outside the morgue because the morgue couldn't handle all the dead bodies, thousands of people dying every day.

Trump assembled his Covid response team. Trump selected those folks himself. And he often ignored them by refusing to wear a mask, telling people they didn't need to get vaccinated, concealing the fact that he knew weeks before the first confirmed US coronavirus death that the virus was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and “more deadly than even your strenuous flus,” and yet he repeatedly played it down publicly.

Trump said Covid would just disappear, like magic. He said we had a lot of cases because we did too much testing and that if we did less testing we'd have fewer cases. He said injecting bleach might be a cure and that despite no evidence they were effective treatments, encouraged Americans to take an anti-malaria drug and a horse dewormer.
