DeSantis after the 2020 election looked to be a strong candidate for 2024. I said then that Trump was done (i.e. if he ever ran again, he'd lose), but that Reps had a smarter version of Trump in DeSantis.
Since then, DeSantis appears to be doing everything wrong. Not that I approved of his policies before, but picking a fight with Disney? That is a very unrepublican thing to do (Disney apparently has canceled a $1B expansion project because of it...jobs, taxes, tourism all negatively affected).
https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/dis...He has a bug up his butt about "wokeness" -which he seems to define as emphasizing anything other than straight white christians-, which has caused him to poke multiple hornet nests (including Disney, minority issues -especially in education-, LGBTQ issues, and more). Plus he's rewriting FL law to suit himself, with one specific example being that he can retain his governorship while running for another office (e.g. POTUS...which FL didn't used to allow). Plus apparently he's make exceptions for himself with respect to FL transparency laws. He's carving out his own little fiefdom.
I wonder if he is electable today. Not in FL, but on a national level. I know albaby disagreed with me when I commented that DeSantis should give up the Disney fight, and take the lumps. Instead he continues to fight, and is getting
more lumps (and losing a $1B project). Even Republicans are muttering that he should stop. He should stop digging the hole he is already in, though maybe it's already too deep for him to get out of.
