Our system has devolved into massive negative campaigning. As such, I always felt the outcome will not be nearly as bad as either losing side thought. That said, this result will have a substantial negative effect in some ways and those of us willing and able will need to work extra hard to counter some of the potential negative outcomes.

(1) We need to work extra hard to protect already marginalized populations, as this outcome further pushes them down.
(2) We need to work extra hard to protect the environment as federal policy will likely move toward further environmental damage.
(3) We need to work extra hard to protect our educational institutions as federal policy may shift toward providing them fewer resources.
(4) We need to work extra hard to protect women's rights.

I am sure there are more, but I will focus on these.

-> to the extent policy shifts toward providing fewer resources to small poverty stricken red states, I am fine with that. Hopefully there will be a lesson in that.

Alan

Agreed.

We are already going to conduct the great experiment and find out how much we can change the climate, so let's concentrate on being humane, coming up with language that protects women's rights that doesn't set off the religionists, our educational institutions are our prosperous future, and I think we can concentrate on plugging the holes leaking methane without getting everyone upset. We need to stay away from mass deportations, we need to come up with some deportations that at least look humane on the surface to placate the WCN. Maybe we can get the dolt interested in getting people into houses.
