Apple extracted 26 billion / year from Google for default status. Apple, not Google, set the price because it could shop this privileged status against a Google competitor. Apple’s leverage has presumably evaporated with the decision.

Will the new reality cost Google more or less than 26 billion? It’s pretty hard to say until we get particulars on remedy, which will almost surely be “tested” by Google in any event.
