"announced today, nextgen iphone will feature TSM 3nm chip"

Thanks. This article says that Apple ordered TSMC's entire initial supply of 3nm chips, to be used in iPhones and MacBooks. If this is true, won't it squeeze NVDA's and AMD's supplies from TSMC. While that could be true, my guess is that NVDA and AMD will get the chips they need.

https://www.macrumors.com/2023/02/22/apple-secures...

I find it fascinating to watch the march from 10nm chips to 7nm, to 5nm, to 3nm and soon to 1nm. With each iteration the performance goes up and the power consumption goes down. ASML is the only company that makes machines for fabricating sub-10nm chips. What a monopoly.

As to why Berkshire sold TSM stock, I have no idea. We may never know. Berkshire didn't reveal why it sold IBM or any most any other stock that I can remember, except WFC and the airlines. TSM stock does not appear to be expensive. There is certainly geopolitical risk, which would affect AAPL as well.

they will eventually get them ,but TSM is the only foundry currently positioned for 3nm.
some interesting tech developments going on as you mention ASML, AMAT just released new sculpta WFE. INTC is associated with its development. it will enhance ASML product usage, and significantly reduce foundry prod. costs. Nice move.

I am slowly adding to INTC here, its around P/E 1.2 depending on the day.. crazy price ! I'll give Pat Gunslinger time for his 5 nodes in 4 years... I wish I had bought into ASML way back in the day in Holland...its a monoploly.and smart folks ! knew some of them. Caveat emptor, though I can lose the money, but I'd hate it ! I remember years ago buying AMD for 3 bucks when it was left for dead...anyway, all this was originally related to a Warren move, so hopefully this post doesnt get deleted.

Just curious if you meant to say PE of twelve or what you are figuring here with this statement.
