Answering Adrian...

Our ID.4 is great. They currently have two recalls about battery management software. We're scheduled in June to get it fixed. But it hasn't caused us any problems we're are aware of. Right after we got it (2 years ago) it wouldn't occasionally do something weird. Didn't seem to affect driving, but -for example- the proximity sensors would go offline (there is a warning light for that). And then we would get out, do our errand, get back in and it would say "welcome Volkswagen driver" (or something like that). So it had rebooted on the next start. But it hasn't done anything like that in a year or so.

Our daughter's coworker just got the Bolt EUV, and so far is very happy. Apparently she only paid in the high 20s, which is cheaper than a Model 3.

There are more and more EVs now. I saw a Lucid at the charger a while back (I still have 1 year of free charging left, so I drive to a public charger). The Mustang EV has better range than me (helped a lady with her first charging session). Rivian. There was another one I can't recall now...but I looked it up at the time, and it was a hyper-luxury sedan (costing north of $100K).

Thanks for the update, 1poorguy. Glad the ID.4 is working well for you.

The Bolt for us is the same. Nothing wrong in 44k miles other than the battery issue - we've been restricted to 80% charge for 18 months.
Our dealer just ordered the new battery for us under the recall.

The Bolt or Bolt EUV are great deals right now. They qualify for the full $7500 tax credit. Net cost can be in the low $20s. Unfortunately, GM are discontinuing the Bolt later this year. They said the new Equinox EV coming out in the fall will be priced at $30k+. We'll see. I expect they will prioritize the Silverado EV truck, and not the car that competes with the Tesla Model Y, ID.4, Mach E, Iconiq 5, EV6, etc.

We haven't driven the ID.4 yet. With the price cuts at Tesla I thought we'd likely get a Model Y. We test drove a Y and a 3 and I liked them a lot. Definitely more performance than we need from either car. A rear-wheel drive Y with 250 mile range would be ideal. Maybe that's what this is:

Tesla has teased its next electric car with a new image of the silhouette, and Elon Musk says it is already being built.

$40k with $7500 tax credit would be very attractive.

Then I'd just have to get past the Elon ick factor, which is very, very strong right now.
I really do not want people to think I support his authoritarian opinions.

Maybe Tesla should come out with some special colors? Bright red for the MAGA crowd. Bright blue for those who want a great EV but think Musk is an a-hole.

Tesla is a good EV. Good range, lots of features. I've heard anecdotally that it can be difficult to get things fixed, but don't know that for a fact. One HUGE advantage is the Tesla charger network. It's the best in the world right now. I mostly use EA, and I have a Charge Point account. Combined those still aren't as extensive as Tesla.

I've seen a few of these around. They look really nice.

Right on cue, earlier today Musk tweeted out a quote incorrectly attributed to Voltaire that is actually by Kevin Strom, a neo-Nazi and Holocaust denier.

Anyone with Google and 30 seconds would have know the quote came from a neo-Nazi.

I wouldn't give a nickel of my money to a neo-Nazi fanboi but, hey, that's just me.

I clicked on that twitter link, scrolled down a bit and wished I hadn't. What a cesspool.
