The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

While the huge Library in France - containing 9 million books and manuscripts burns baby burns......

There's good news too!

Enter New York City and it's anti-immigrant Democrat Mayor Eric Adams that LurkerMom has done a fine job of highlighting in these parts.

nytimes.com - Library cuts NYC

Some moron on TMF decades ago warned that continued social and cultural decay, coupled with illegal immigration expenses will mean resources drying up for important things. Luckily he was wrong. *snicker*

Live from "New York" ..... the "greatest city in the world"....

"N.Y.C. Libraries Stave Off Sunday Closings in Adams's New Budget Plan"

"Mr. Adams, a Democrat in his second year in office, had faced growing pressure to call off the 4 percent budget cuts that library leaders have warned would be 'devastating' to the system.

Library officials were appreciative of the mayor's decision, but cautioned that they still faced another $36 million in previously announced budget cuts and were worried about their impact on libraries' hours and programs"

"Mr. Adams has said that across-the-board budget cuts are necessary as the city grapples with a host of financial challenges, including paying for housing, food and schools for an influx of migrants from the southern border, and for new labor deals with city workers."

The usual suspects won't get it. Which is what I bank on. So let's celebrate..... the 'greatest city in the world'.....gets to keep libraries open on Sunday and will refrain from cuts to police, fire, and homeless assistance.

For those who are NOT tribalistic partisan rabbits(ie, typical Americans).....it's a lovely, lovely step that things even GOT to this point.

And *this* is while the economy is great too.

Buckle up, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

Prescription: More illegal immigration. More social decay and any mention of it must be met with calls of racism and 50's misogynistic mentality.

Things are only starting to get good.
