…because of course. This is who they are and why a ceasefire was always a bad idea.
There was never any deal they were going to keep. Why? They’re terrorists. The hostages are their only bargaining chips.
Israel should send a message.

I abhor that civilians (as usual) are taking the brunt of this. On both sides.
Politically, Israel is in a dicey situation. Militarily, I agree...no ceasefire. Consider all the hostages casualties, and do what you must do. Quickly.
They should also remove their "settlers", by force if necessary. They would have a better "moral" position if they weren't seen as taking land that isn't theirs. And they should wrap up their operations as quickly as possible to avoid being the US in Vietnam, or Afghanistan. Mired in a no-win situation.

There are no settlers in Gaza. All of them were removed years ago.
There’s no moral equivalence here.
Breaking: Hamas did finally release the others.

I didn't say "Gaza". Israel has several illegal settlements, principally on the West Bank. They should be removed. I believe they also have some on the Golan Heights. They don't have legitimate claim to that land, either.
I'm not equating morality here. I'm just saying that returning lands they don't own will help them be more "on the high road", even as they have to kill civilians to get to Hamas (who hide among them). There is no high road when killing civilians, of course. Hamas is giving them little choice, I realize.

Honestly, I used to agree with limiting/eliminating settlements. But when you do what Hamas did - and vow to do more of the same - then as a society you’ve reached a level of depravity not seen in decades.
That’s where Hamas is. The Palestinian Authority has a choice to make: are they the same as Hamas or do they retain some human values?

From what I understand, for all practical purposes there is no "Palestinian Authority". It's there, sort of. But Hamas is running the show. There hasn't been an election since Hamas was voted-in almost 2 decades ago. Over half the people in Gaza didn't vote for them because they were too young (or not even born yet). And there hasn't been an election since.
At this point, it's sort of the situation in Germany in the 30s. Even if you realize you made a boo-boo, it's too late. The Palestinians have to worry about the Hamas equivalent of the Gestapo; being labeled a "traitor" and lynched/shot.

I was referring to the West Bank bunch. If they want to embrace the same inhumanity that the Gazans have, screw them.
As it is Gaza is about to lose more territory - if Israel is smart they double the size of their wall and demolish every building with 100 yards of it. Then declare a no-entry zone along that 100 yard strip.
Gazans wanting to enter Israel for jobs? Nope, not ever again.

Israel should send a message.Well, your post didn't age well, did it?
Hamas released a second group of 13 Israeli hostages on Saturday as part of a cease-fire deal, a day after it released another 13.Keyboard Generals always think they have all the answers.

And yet, by the time I read this the deal had pushed through. These type of negotiations are always fragile. And dopes always know better

After trying to wrangle more concessions. The point stands. I am glad your friends decided to release some of their victims.
