Mad King Donald now calls his promise to end the Russia-Ukraine war on Day One 'an exaggeration,' simply 'said in jest.'
Now, he repeated that promise at every campaign event, never once with the slightest hint of jest and never once did his audience laugh. Plus, almost every time he concluded with “it would be easy.”
C'mon cultists, how long are you gonna' swallow his sh!t and call it honey?

In the time interview he said he was jesting. And some people still believe in him!
Aussi
During his 2024 presidential campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly claimed that he could end the Russia-Ukraine war within 24 hours of taking office. This assertion was a central theme in his speeches and interviews, emphasizing his belief in his unique ability to broker peace swiftly. For instance, in May 2023, Trump told the UK’s GB News that as U.S. president, he would end the war within 24 hours, citing his good relationships with the leaders of Ukraine and Russia. Again, in August 2024, he reiterated this claim at a National Guard Conference, stating, “Before I even arrive at the Oval Office, shortly after I win the presidency, I will have the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine settled.”

Donald Trump lied a total of 30,573 times during his first term. Averaging about 21 erroneous claims a day.
This is a Documented fact. Trump is a PROVEN LIAR. He's made a career of lying to gullible people.
79% of Trump's tweets are rated False by politifact check.
Remember these doozies?
"When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on day one. We will drill, baby, drill. That’s going to bring down prices of everything!" ~Donald Trump
"When I take office, I will swiftly reduce prices starting from day one!" ~Donald Trump
Well, at least the Emoluments Clause is dead and all the Jan 6th terrorists and cop beaters are free...

Well, clearly, Trump doesn't know how to tell a joke, if that is his idea of a joke. No punchline either.

Donald Trump lied a total of 30,573 times during his first term.…… that we know of.
I doubt that he became a shining paragon of truth-telling when there wasn’t a microphone around.

"The moment we no longer have a free press, anything can happen. What makes it possible for a totalitarian or any other dictatorship to rule is that people are not informed; how can you have an opinion if you are not informed? If everybody always lies to you, the consequence is not that you believe the lies, but rather that nobody believes anything any longer. This is because lies, by their very nature, have to be changed, and a lying government has constantly to rewrite its own history. On the receiving end you get not only one lie—a lie which you could go on for the rest of your days—but you get a great number of lies, depending on how the political wind blows. And a people that no longer can believe anything cannot make up its mind. It is deprived not only of its capacity to act but also of its capacity to think and to judge. And with such a people you can then do what you please."

But now, though for time being we still have a free press, much of the citizenry is captured by right wing propaganda masquerading as news. This is a huge problem.

Because he tells them exactly what they want to hear.
Was that supposed to be a rhetorical question?

Why do so many MAGAs like being lied to?
Because it reaffirms their world view which is set in stone and cannot be changed lest their entire value system come tumbling down. They’re still pissed we didn’t drop the Big One on Vietnam. That black people walk freely among us. That the idea of gay is even a subject for discussion. That women are airline pilots.
The have their heroes, fictional or not, and there is nothing you can say or do that is going to change that.
The Democrats were the beneficiaries of that for a while while the FDR coalition held together long after his death. The Republicans are now, and were in the 1930’s, when they continued voting for Hoover (and successor Republican candidates) by margins of 40-45%.
There’s actually only a small sliver that moves back and forth, and most people including, I dare say you and me, have pretty much decided whether we’re on the side of the angels or not.
