last night, near Reagan International Airport, a passenger jet collided with a military helicopter and crashed into the Potomac. it’s a tragedy and horrible loss of life, and as always with these events, very little is known at this time about what went wrong — but that didn’t stop the asshole who knows more about air traffic control than all the air traffic controllers from throwing a social media shit-fit.

Perhaps this might also be an opportunity to remind everyone that air traffic controllers are federal employees. So maybe offering a buyout to every civilian federal employee might not be the best thing for air traffic safety, given that we're already short of controllers in the first place. Obviously the buyout didn't have any impact on this crash. But it's always worth mentioning that the overwhelming majority of federal employees aren't bureaucrats working remotely out of the office drafting regulations that Republicans don't like, but instead are overwhelmingly people that work in VA hospitals and civilian positions on military bases and in penitentiaries and on the border patrol....
....and in airport traffic control towers.

I’m guessing that air traffic controllers, as well as most other federal employees, have figured out that the buyout offer is basically bullshit, because there’s no money in the budget to fund it.
Not to mention that the offer came in a stupid email asking them to hit “return” and check “yes” if they accepted the offer.
This administration is good at banging drums and expelling vast quantities of hot air with nothins substantial backing it up.
