Both outcomes are certainly bleak.
It almost sounds like someone (perhaps a UN coalition) needs to step in decisively, remove Israel’s nuclear weapons - by force if necessary - then back away and let the whole place go to pot. It will be a humanitarian nightmare, but sometimes you have to let people get what they are asking for to learn how bad their choices are. Provide a path for well controlled emigration from the area, of course.
It may take two or three decades, but at some point, hopefully people will tire of the constant war and inherent poverty. And then - maybe - a new generation will grow up who want to live in peace more than they want to hate their neighbors.
