Since there isn't a "Russia Policy" board, guess this will have to go here. The US is mentioned...

So, short version, a Moscow venue was attacked, and over 100 people are dead, and more than 100 more injured. Putin jumped at the chance to blame Ukraine, even saying that the suspects were trying to flee to Ukraine (really? they're going to try to cross an active war zone with mine fields and soldiers and checkpoints?). Meanwhile, IS has claimed responsibility and released video documenting their attack. The US warned Moscow that IS was planning something. Evidently, Putin is not acknowledging that Ukraine wasn't involved (yet), preferring to let his citizens think Ukraine had some sort of supportive role.

Russian state news broadcasts largely ignored or cast doubt on the ISIS attribution, and commentators focused on trying to blame Ukraine.

...

Russia has long been a target for Sunni extremists, because of its backing of Syria and Iran, and the country for years faced extremist attacks emanating from its own North Caucasus region.
