hclasvegas: aka, the usual suspects.
Umm, Carville hasn't been on the winning side of a political campaign since 1992. And he pissed all over then Democratic National Committee chair Howard Dean after the 2006 Mid-Terms when Dean orchestrated a fifty-state strategy that saw democrats win control of both houses of Congress for the first time since the 1994 election and, for the first time since the creation of the Republican party in 1854, saw no republican capture any House, Senate, or Gubernatorial seat previously held by a Democrat.
In short, who gives a f*** what James Carville thinks? The guy literally gets paid to piss on democrats.

Carville is a marble mouthed geriatric avatar of the sclerotic Clintonite wing of the Democratic Party. While these DINOS turtle up and look to the likes of Mitch McConnell to save democracy, Bernie and AOC journey in the beating heart of Trumpland and whip up resistance among the millions of welfare dependent MAGA voters who are suddenly waking up to the impending loss of their Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, ACA subsidies, and jobs.
The DINOS have been doing the dirty work for Wall Street and Silicon Valley for 30 years and are in no position to lead the charge against a power hungry oligarchy. Not Trump is all the sclerotic wing of the party have to offer voters. It’s not a winning argument.
The path to victory goes through the working class MAGA voters who are angry with the state of their economic lives, not the petty bourgeois MAGA voters who want their taxes back and want to stimulate private sector growth by gutting the public sector. The fire fighters, cops, nurses, teachers, and all the other median income Americans struggling to eek out a life with dignity and opportunity for their children are there for democrats to win back with a clearly articulated platform of Making America Work Again.
A new platform starts by breaking our addiction to billionaires, recommitting to better wages through politically supported unions, and reinvesting in a strong social and economic infrastructure paid for with the private wealth that our social infrastructure produces.

The path to victory goes through the working class MAGA voters who are angry with the state of their economic lives,
and NOT through demonizing them as racist, reactionary bigoted "deplorables" in flyover country in response to over-reaching DEI, environmental and nonsensical anti-business economic policies and cronyist funding.
When the Dem leadership can figure THAT out and actually appeal to the "bourgeois MAGAs" who have long been sick of being treated as a class to be re-educated, they will win again.

the problem is not lack of things that haven't worked on the gop, its a dearth of anything that could plausibly work.
self-reported issues of concern are useless, see consumer prices, etc...
the utter lack of independent attribution based on facts has resulted in a cult label. when trump takes a side, logical arguments and opponents are meaningless. same when he pivots, and re-pivots.
i dont know if the cult is transferable. certain aspects make them susceptible to a new messiah IF trump is no longer around.
on the lower income side, MAGA will be getting a re-education, whether they want\recognize it or not.
all indicates the wrong lesson will be learned, i.e., its someone else's fault.

Calling them "cult" is bound to make them more open minded.
How has that worked out so far

Which is one of the indications that it is a cult for some.
