Actually, they already have that "duty". Though, as the YouTube lawyer "ScowlOwl" (via LegalEagle) has said, it's a huge risk for the service people. I posted that a few months ago. Ironically, if they don't disobey illegal orders, they can still get in big trouble.
I would not encourage any young people to sign-up for service today. They will be put into legal situations that even lawyers would have difficulty parsing. If they make the wrong choice, they could be imprisoned. Not worth the risk. Better to sign up with Truckmasters, or some other trade school.

The video is 6 current members of Congress, all of whom have previously served in the military or the intelligence services. They are encouraging members of those services to consider not following illegal orders.
The response is a report about Trump accusing them of sedition and calling them traitors. He also calls for their arrest and trial.
Personally, I'm adding this one to my "Republican accusations as confession" file. I'm going to have to expand that to a second drawer in the file cabinet pretty soon.

President Donald Trump on Thursday called for six Democratic lawmakers to face arrest and trial after they made a video encouraging U.S. service members and members of the intelligence community to refrain from following orders if they broke the law.
“It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL,” Trump charged in a post on Truth Social. “Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand - We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET.”

Trump has never read the Constitution. In his first term, staff members tried to READ IT TO HIM, but he immediately got bored and cut them off. The Constitution means NOTHING to Trump. He truly believes that being POTUS should give him unlimited dictatorial powers. Sadly, the Supreme Court has encouraged his belief in this.
