Mellon donates $130 million. That's about $100 per service member (1,300,000 active duty service members)
Timothy Snyder: The amount is meaningless--less than one day of salary. But the principle is important: once armed services are paid by the oligarchs, they become a private militia, and we no longer have a country.
I don't think the oligarchs are an essential step in this process of nation destruction. Trump seems capable of doing it mostly by himself.

and...
...the donation appears to be a potential violation of the Antideficiency Act, which prohibits federal agencies from spending money in excess of congressional appropriations or from accepting voluntary services.

Just askin'.

Trump is the Lord of Democracy’s Destruction
The tech bro oligarchs are the Lords of Constructing the Police State.
Once the supporting architecture of authoritarianism has been built and is operational (they’re pretty far along already), Trump will suffer a convenient accident. (Which, of course, will be blamed on antifa terrorist loving marxist Democrats)

Are military members even allowed to accept payments from outside sources? If not, expect another lawsuit.

More to the point, the weekly payroll for the U.S. military is $3.69 billion. So Mellon's "donation" pays 1/3 of the military for one day.
Also, an Epstein survivor just recently sued the Bank of New York Mellon for funding Jeffrey Epstein and failing to file a Suspicious Activity Report.
So, bribery.
Finally, Tim Mellon is worth $14.1 billion.
P.S. The Mellons were taxed at a 91% marginal tax rate from 1940-1980.

We need to go back to that tax structure. Get rid of all the tax cuts (and the elimination of the estate tax). At least back to Reagan.
It's all those cuts for the past 40+ years that are -primarily- responsible for our deficit/debt. Ironically, the party that complains the loudest about the deficit is also the party that is majority-responsible for the massive deficit/debt. At least back to Reagan (and maybe further...I'd have to look up data beyond him). Reagan tripled the national debt at the time.

Tax the rich and invest in America, those were the days!
