Pre-Trump era, the leading candidate in the republican presidential primary calling for the execution of Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley would be 72-pt. screaming headline news in every newspaper in America and an automatic disqualification for public office.
Today, meh.
Trump also told Milley he did not want wounded veterans at official events because "no one wants to see that." Trump was referring to Luis Avila, who served five combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, was left almost completely paralyzed by the detonation of an improvised explosive device in 2011. Milley had selected Avila to sing 'God Bless America' at his 2019 welcome ceremony at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall.
Trump's loathing for an injured war hero may speak volumes about his repulsive character but those in the Trump Cult cannot hear.
And a member of Congress calling the current President of the United States an "old fart" once would have resulted in swift condemnation by her party. MTG (replying to a tweet by president Biden): "Whatever you old fart."
Today, meh.
Joining Trump and Greene on a never-ending race to the bottom, former Assistant to President Trump, Peter Navarro, called Cassidy Hutchinson, Alyssa Farah, Stephanie Grisham, Kayleigh McEnany, and Olivia Troye "Pimp ladies," a comment that would have resulted in criticism in days past.
Again, meh.
And that's why it has become pointless to enter into conversations with anyone in the Trump Cult. They are irretrievably lost, soulless, conscienceless, morally bereft, and love to revel in their cruelty.
Meanwhile, democrats are lining up to demand the resignation of senator Menendez.
P.S. If Milley is on the government's witness list for Trump's DC trial, Trump has violated the terms of his parole.

I have scantly followed the Jan 6 whatever you want to call it (I don't care). To me it was/is just another boring left wing witch hunt and I wasn't going to waste my time on it, letting the left knock their brains out over it. Whatever will become of J6 will be just another chapter of Trump derangement syndrome to me.
I did venture to open up one of your links,

'Trump has always been incensed about reports that General Mark Milley contacted his counterpart in China about security concerns if an unhinged Trump continued to go further off the deep end in the closing days of his presidency.
On Friday night, Trump posted on Truth Social that act by Milley constituted treason: "This is an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH!"
What it simply boils down akin to me saying, ' I don't like commonone's left wing posts and he should be banned from the Shrewds Blog.'
Also, are you quoting from a link in your post or are they your thoughts?
I did look into this a little BIT and there is a lot more to it than just your condemning of Trump.

U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) vowed to bring 'traitor' general Mark Milley to justice in a tweet Saturday. Gosar, Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) and Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), among others, had been lobbying for the establishment of a 'Church Commission-style' investigation into the weaponization of the FBI against Americans, as well as alleged federal government coordination with January 6 instigators. Under a compromise between newly elected House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and his 20 dissenters, such a committee will be established. Many conservative pundits and voters have expressed skepticism, however, as they do not trust McCarthy to follow through.
'Remember ' we will conduct a real investigation into J6. The effort to attempt a coup between traitor Gen. Mark Milley and Pelosi will be reviewed and exposed,' Gosar wrote in a tweet Saturday.'

'Scan far-right Twitter and you'll find doctored images of Milley as a Chinese
military official or a bleached-haired pride parade participant. The bill of complaints ranges from leaking about Trump's end-stage behavior to supporting a 'woke' military, but the criticism is remarkably personal. Republican Rep. Paul Gosar called him a 'traitor'.
https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2023/03/24/...There are more links bashing Gen Milley but perhaps a start for a pro/con discussion if anyone is still interested in J6.

[ Yay, commonone is posting here again. All is right with the world once more. ]
As for Trump calling for Milley's execution, as usual, he was quite slippery about it. I found the "Lies Social" post and he said this:
This guy [Milley] turned out to be a Woke train wreck who, if the Fake News reporting is correct, was actually dealing with China to give them a heads up on the thinking of the President of the United States. This is an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH! A war between China and the United States could have been the result of this treasonous act.
So, Trump didn't outright say Milley should be executed, only that in the past Milley's actions would have been considered to be treason, resulting in death as the punishment. That's probably not historically accurate either, but I think Trump once again escapes accountability for his implication.

And there it is: the Trump Cult is irretrievably lost, soulless, conscienceless, and morally bereft.
On January 6, Trump encouraged his cult to march to the Capitol and stop the steal, to prevent the peaceful transfer of power to the newly elected president after lying to his cult for weeks that the election had been 'stollen' (Trump never provided a single shred of evidence that the election was anything other than free and fair). Otherwise, he told them, we would not have a country any longer.
Trump had repeatedly badgered his vice president in the weeks leading up to January 6 to refuse to certify the electoral votes of several states. Pence tried. Pence tried every way possible but in the end concluded he was unable to comply with Trump's demand. He told Trump he could not comply. As the attack on the Capitol continued, when it became clear that Pence was not rejecting the electoral ballots on January 6, Trump informed his cult that the vice president had failed them, had failed to do his duty. As the cult chanted "Hang Mike Pence!" Trump did nothing to stop them.
Yet the Trump cult insists that the attack on democracy led by a sitting president is a "left wing witch hunt", nothing more than "Trump derangement syndrome". Impartial juries have sent hundreds to prison, most after pleading guilty as charged.

U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) vowed to bring 'traitor' general Mark Milley to justice...
Well, today is September 24, almost nine months later. So how did that work out for Gosar? McCarthy has given his committees free rein and what have they come up with so far?
Nothing.
And did Gosar, like Trump, suggest that Milley should be executed?
No.
LurkerMom: What it simply boils down akin to me saying, ' I don't like commonone's left wing posts and he should be banned from the Shrewds Blog.'
No, it's nothing like that.
Instead, it's like saying that "commonone's left wing posts are treasonous and in the past we dealt with treason by execution".

Didn't he?
See, this is the same mistake the media make with Trump: "Well, he didn't literally say go attack the Capitol," he just said stop the steal. He didn't literally say Hang Mike Pence, he just said Pence betrayed you. He didn't literally say "Milley should be executed," he just said we used to deal with traitors by execution.

That is part of Trump's everyman appeal. That is for those who don't have a chip on their shoulder just itching to twist Trumps words into something else, eg drink bleach to fight covid.
I know the progressives don't get that. They prefer a polished bureaucrat whose tone is smooth as buttermilk and can talk for ten minutes answering a question, when later upon reflection you realize they did not say anything.

How about a bit of reality?...
Thomas Sibick, who stole a badge and radio from a police officer who was brutally beaten by other rioters during the attack
on the U.S. Capitol was sentenced more than four years in prison.
Here's what he had to say about Jan 6th and his role in it...
"It was an attack on the institutions of our democracy. The attack was far from peaceful, my actions played a role that will follow me for the rest of my life."
And here's a quote about Jan 6th from D.C. Police Officer Daniel Hodges who was there...
"If it wasn't my job, I would have done that for free.
It was absolutely my pleasure to crush a white nationalist insurrection.
And we'll do it as many times as it takes."

And frankly, the "normal" republicans are not much better than the cult.
And frankly, there appears to be ZERO learning taking place among "normal Republicans."
Cassidy Hutchins -- who I seriously think should have been named Time's Person of the Year in 2022 for her decision to reject the paid counsel that was being provided and encouraging her to lie under oath -- is making the rounds this week for her new book describing her experience in the White House.
In an interview on CBS Sunday Morning, she was asked about the 2024 election and she said she would definitely not be voting for Trump but would definitely be voting for a Republican (at least in the primary). One would think a person exposed to that level of corruption --- IN the White House not only in hourly proximity to a corrupt President but dozens of equally corrupt appointed officials and outside crazies -- would realize the entire Republican Party power structure is identical in nature to the man at the top, Trump.
This will not end until Republicans lose filibuster control in the US Senate, lose the House and serious reforms are made to combat gerrymandering throughout the country to yield fair races for State legislatures as well. If another Republican wins the White House with either control of the Senate or House to block impeachment/conviction, the American experiment in democracy will be over.

Trump posted: "if the Fake News reporting is correct... this treasonous act."
Trump often accuses people of treason, and yet there have been no convictions of people he has accused. Trump was clearly the most inept U.S. President ever. Either he falsely accused people of treason, OR he failed to hold these people accountable when he was President.
Trump looks to be possibly guilty of treason himself, and is likely trying to minimize the offense by accusing everyone else of the same crime. Like a magician using distraction. Those of us who see the trick are amazed by those fooled by it. Or like someone with a guilty mind.

Your assessment is spot on. But pity? If her conviction that Trump wears a halo and has graced her with the truth was the extent of it....then perhaps. But her gleefully vicious denigrating of absolutely everyone who disagrees with the maga world does not deserve pity. It's frightening.

In Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), it's quite common to see Projection.
https://www.simplypsychology.org/narcissistic-proj...Basically those with NPD attribute their own misdeeds and shortcomings to others instead of themselves.
> is likely trying to minimize the offense
Could be. They may or may not have conscious purpose to what they are doing, in my experience it seems almost a reflexive action to them, because they will do it in private 1 on 1s just as much as they do it in public.
As someone who has suffered at the hands of narcissists for far too many years, I find it helpful to remember this phrase, when they're screaming the most absurd lies about you right into your face:
**"Every accusation is a confession"**
It's particularly useful to know that phrase if you have an NPD partner that starts inexplicably screaming that you're cheating on them or stealing from them. But it's also helpful to know if you are choosing someone to run the most powerful country in the world.
