Even the most fervent Trump cultist must have felt a little queasy seeing the former president using a grave at Arlington National Cemetery as a campaign prop, standing there with his Cheshire Cat grin and his thumbs up gesture.

Anyone?

Trump has a checkered past with the military and veterans. He was accused by those formerly close to him of dodging the Vietnam War draft by making up an injury. He’s also disparaged the intelligence of service members and asked that wounded veterans be kept out of military parades, The Atlantic reported during his presidency.

Among the most damning alleged comments revealed in that report was that Trump referred to the more than 1,800 Marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood — a deadly WWI battle — as “suckers” for getting killed. In a separate conversation on the matter, he reportedly referred to soldiers killed in action as “losers.”

“Why should I go to that cemetery?” he was accused of saying. “It’s filled with losers.”

BTW, there are strict regulations against using Arlington National Cemetery as a photo-op.

Why anyone would continue to support this POS is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.

But I guess that's why they call it a cult.

...standing there with his Cheshire Cat grin and his thumbs up gesture.

The grin a sociopath learns to make when trying to fake real emotion. Trump is a genuinely humorless man.

And, of course, grinning like that with his 'thumbs up' at what should be a solemn place/occasion... His attempt to counter his well known disdain for veterans and the war dead and wounded.

Another symptom of sociopathy. I'm supposed to pose and smile for a photo, right? A sociopath doesn't understand social cues - that an action which is perfectly appropriate in one place becomes entirely inappropriate in another place.

For those trying to cope with their sociopathy, they have to learn all of the exceptions to the general social rules. Or they need someone trusted to quietly let them know when they're doing something wrong.

In Trump's case, I doubt he is actually trying to cope with his sociopathy. And he doesn't have anyone he would listen to in social situations - although perhaps his family might help him out from time to time. Maybe Melania and/or Ivanka? But both seem to have grown tired of that job as he went through his time as President. They're both quite scarce these days.

There are times when I actually pity the man. Going through life as a sociopath without effective treatment or support has got to be miserable.

You just scripted a wonderful 'vets against Trump' ad.

Oh, look! There’s more!

From NPR: “Two members of Donald Trump's campaign staff had a verbal and physical altercation Monday with an official at Arlington National Cemetery, where the former president participated in a wreath-laying ceremony, NPR has learned.

A source with knowledge of the incident said the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump staffers from filming and photographing in a section where recent U.S. casualties are buried. The source said Arlington officials had made clear that only cemetery staff members would be authorized to take photographs or film in the area, known as Section 60.

When the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump campaign staff from entering Section 60, campaign staff verbally abused and pushed the official aside, according to the source.”

Assault and battery. Arrest them. Easy peasy. If secret service witnessed this, it's open and shut.
