From the Financial Times:

He promised on day one of his presidency to let January 6 convicts out of jail, close the US-Mexico border and “drill baby drill” for gas and oil. He feted Viktor Orbán in Mar-a-Lago as the best leader in the world and assured Hungary’s strongman that he would not “give a penny” to Ukraine. He took out a $91.6mn surety bond to pay defamation damages to his sexual assault victim, E Jean Carroll.

He purged the Republican National Committee with 60 staff firings — the opening move by his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, who he handpicked as RNC co-chair. He did a U-turn on TikTok, now saying its Chinese parent company should retain ownership. He mimicked Joe Biden’s stutter, insisted that America’s true inflation rate was 50 per cent and attacked Jimmy Kimmel as the worst ever Oscars host. It seems almost trivial to add that new detail emerged about Trump’s apparent soft spot for Adolf Hitler.

Just yesterday on Newsmax, Trump said Hillary Clinton used acid* on her email server that would destroy everything within 10 miles and that Bill Clinton took classified material out of the White House in his socks.

Trump claimed that before the pandemic, he was on his way to reducing the debt. Nope, he added $4.8T to the debt before the pandemic, and $3.6T during it.

Senator Katie Britt absorbed the media spotlight for two days when she lied to viewers in the State of the Union rebuttal with an anecdote about a Mexican sex trafficking victim.

"Every time Trump gives a speech, he dispenses a minimum of several full-blown lies. His untruths merit a shrug; everybody else’s qualify as a scandal."

There's the rub: the media simply shrug at whatever nonsense pours from his pie hole.

* The senile old fool Trump believes BleachBit, a free and open-source disk space cleaner, privacy manager, and computer system optimizer, is dangerous corrosive super acid that will destroy anything and everything within 10 miles of it.

What a doofus.

Clearly the Orange menace doesn't understand Bleachbit. You don't use acid to clean a computer. Even Hillary knows all you need to do is wipe it down, like with a cloth or something.

So are these the policies you admire BHM? These are the policies we would all benefit from?

Whether he pardons all the J6 convicts on day 1 or never gives another dollar to Ukraine remains to be seen. As far as establishing border security and accessing domestic energy resources, I say hell yeah.

And add to this on the energy front:
*Ending the EV mandates. If your goal is to stopping killing the planet, then no sane person says, "I've got an idea. Let's rely on rare Earth minerals strip mined with slave labor in China".

*Ending bans on natural gas. More insanity. It's the cleanest large scale source of power that we have, and libs want it gone. Along with...

*Stopping the insanity of removing perfectly good hydroelectric dams. If we can put several guys on the Moon we can figure out how to move salmon upriver.

All these and many more!

bighairymike: As far as establishing border security and accessing domestic energy resources, I say hell yeah.

First, he didn't establish border security when he had majorities in the House and Senate during his first two years in office. Border crossing for the entire 2019 fiscal year saw a 90% increase over 2018 figures. “CBP has faced unprecedented and staggering levels of illegal crossings,” Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan said at the time.

Yet he did nothing.

Second, domestic energy production hit an all-time high last year as the U.S. pumped more crude annually than any nation on Earth. In December, U.S. crude oil production hit a new monthly record high of over 13.3 million bpd. The United States produced more crude oil than any nation at any time.

bighairymike: Whether he pardons all the J6 convicts on day 1 or never gives another dollar to Ukraine remains to be seen.

So, you're saying he's a man who cannot be taken at his word.

May as well just put those salmon on Dope's golf course next Trump's $3BILLION dollar Mar a Lago. They'll do just as well there as if they were moved 'upriver' in lo-flow water that's too hot to spawn.

Just move 'em upriver. Sheesh. If we can X, we can Y.

Everything is so obviously simple for MAGAts.

Trump also promised western farmers he'd solve the water shortages in his first month. A chicken in every poTrump.

As far as establishing border security

So you approved of separating a kid from their family to send the message, "Don't come here"?

SNIP But I discovered this idea came from a man named Tom Homan. He was the head of ICE under the Trump administration, but he's been in border enforcement for decades starting as a border patrol agent and early 20s. He came up with the idea to separate families as a deterrent for migration. He first proposed it during the Obama administration. At the time, Jeh Johnson, the Homeland Security Secretary said no, declined to proceed, and then the idea resurfaces again under Trump, when it's ultimately approved.SNIP

You can read more here: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/how-a-trump-era-...

and accessing domestic energy resources, I say hell yeah.

We're an oil exporter under Biden, but that isn't due to either Trump or Biden, it's innovation.

SNIP Similarly, Dustin Meyer, vice president of policy, economic and regulatory affairs at the American Petroleum Institute, said to understand the market now, look back to late 2019, when oil production reached its all-time peak of 12.3 million barrels a day just before the pandemic.

When gasoline prices crashed and briefly went into negative territory during the pandemic, companies worked to turn their spigots off except for their most productive wells. That created a need to squeeze more oil out of fewer wells with less resources and fewer workers.

The reduced number of active wells led to changes in how operators got oil out of the ground, Brown said.

“A lot of the normal inputs you would think about they were calling off, like certainly the amount of employment,” Brown said. “So really they were only kind of drilling in the most optimal places,” he said. (So it wasn't Drill, Drill, Drill, Mike)

But it wasn’t just a matter of choosing the right spots, he said.

The length of lateral wells, or wells that are drilled horizontally after they’re drilled vertically, began to increase dramatically during the pandemic, as well. In the Permian Basin alone, the average lateral length of horizontal wells increased to more than 10,000 feet in the first nine months of 2022, compared to less than 4,000 feet in 2010 and 9,000 in 2020, according to the EIA.

The amount of fluid that operators use to flush into frack sites has also increased, allowing more product to be extracted from the same wellhead. There have been additional technological advances in underground mapping tools, seismic measuring instruments and drillhead sensors to help guide operators to the most fruitful pockets of the subsurface.

The resulting jump in productivity per well has been dramatic, Brown said. The number of barrels of oil produced per foot of drilling has increased 200 percent since 2014, with much of that progress coming in the last three years. SNIP
