The Evangelicals got their thirty pieces of silver when Roe was struck down. They are looking forward to the rapture.
BUT, according to a contemporary fundamentalist/evangelical fractured exegesis of Revelation (see Hal Lindsey’s “The Late, Great Planet Earth”, published about 1970), the rapture (a doctrine that didn’t appear until the 19th century and rests on another fractured interpretation of a single verse in scripture)…. the rapture cannot occur until just before the entire Middle East is incinerated in a nuclear war. Therefore, in order for the rapture to occur (when all good souls will fly away to be with Jesus) ANY effort to stop a nuclear exchange from occuring in the Middle East is against the will of God and only delays the time when “I’ll Fly Away”.
Therefore (yes, this tortured logic does directly follow from this amazing interpretation), any effort to prevent Jews from being incinerated in a nuclear conflagration, is, by definition, anti-semitic, because when Christ returns to judge the earth, SOME Jews will be saved.
Here’s a handy parable to understand “the rapture”.
It’s as if I man shall hitch a ride with a trucker, and then shall convince that trucker to play the game of “chicken” with a gasoline truck coming from the opposite direction, while believing in his heart of hearts that before the instant of impact, he will mysteriously fly away.
Remember those bumper stickers from a few decades ago?
“In case of rapture, this vehicle will be left driverless”
Oh my God, the nonsense of it all- a death cult on a cosmic scale.
Advice to Jews (though most of you have already figured it out):
Beware of evangelical Christians who love “little Israel.” It’s only a step in their list of cherry picked biblical “prophesies”, their “countdown to Armageddon”, and Jews are only a pawn in their fever dream effort to kickstart “the rapture”.
I’ve dealt with these assholes for my entire adult life. They’ll cheer as Donald Trump moves the American embassy to Jerusalem, not for any sane political reason, but because it advances the countdown.
