The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Imagine a candidate for the office of the President of the United States promoting violence against his opponent, the current sitting President of the United States.

Well, wait... you don't have to 'imagine' it. Donald Trump posted a video on Truth Social with an image of President Biden bound with rope around his neck, chest, and legs, like a kidnap victim, in the back of a pickup truck.

When Kathy Griffin appeared in a photo holding up the bloody head of then-President Trump, she sparked outrage on both sides of the political aisle and was investigated by the Secret Service and the U.S. Attorney's Office. She was put on the no-fly and Interpol lists. She lost all of her professional work and had her comedy tour canceled due to death threats. She was interrogated under oath and informed by federal authorities that they were considering charging her with the crime of conspiracy to assassinate the President of the United States.

Obviously, Trump has a history of promoting violence without suffering consequences. And rather than condemn him, his cult applauds his cruelty and calls for violence.

Republicans were outraged when President Obama wore a tan suit so, you know, perspective.
