The Administration is signaling that it is going to withdraw from ceasefire efforts between Ukraine and Russia in the next few days unless a potential deal is identified:

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Friday that the Trump administration is ready to walk away from Ukraine ceasefire talks in the coming days if it becomes clear that a deal is impossible.

"We are now reaching a point where we need to decide and determine whether this is even possible or not," Rubio told reporters at the airport before leaving Paris, where he had traveled to coordinate with allies.

"I'm talking about a matter of days, whether or not this is doable over the next few weeks," he added. "If it is, we're in. If it's not, then we have other priorities to focus on."

This, after Trump repeatedly claimed during the campaign that he would be able to bring the war to a swift end.

The problem, of course, isn't with the fact that Trump appears likely to fail at brokering the war's end. After all, Presidents fail at lots of things - every modern President has failed to achieve a lasting resolution to the longstanding conflicts in the Middle East, for example. The problem lay in Trump's blithe insistence that he would have the ability to broker a solution to the conflict, his failure to recognize that the war involved very inconsistent real interests and goals that the two sides were vastly apart on.

And don’t forget the stunts this administration has pulled over the past three months that have sealed its reputation as a “dishonest broker”.

Huh. Who knew ending a war could be so hard?

Vietnam Peace Talks lasted for 1,723 days. Korean War Armistice Talks lasted for 747 days. But Rubio's ready to throw in the towel after a couple of months despite Mad King Donald's repeated guarantees that he would easily end the war in 24 hours because Trump 💗 Putin and wants to gift him Ukraine.

Did Ukraine ever get included in the talks? Last I heard, it was just us and the Russians. That was doomed to fail before it even began. You have to include all concerned parties.

albaby1: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Friday that the Trump administration is ready to walk away from Ukraine ceasefire talks in the coming days if it becomes clear that a deal is impossible.

Well, we all recall Mad King Donald and his second-in-command raking Zelensky over the coals and shouting him down in the Oval Office, accusing him of not be thankful enough, not dressing respectfully enough, and not understanding his weak position even as Zelensky argued that Russia could not be trusted to maintain a ceasefire agreement.

Trump has claimed that Ukraine was to blame for the Russian invasion and has called Zelenskyy a "dictator" and suggested he is a warmonger.

But in his "negotiations" to reach a ceasefire and an end to the war, has Mad King Donald ever put even the slightest bit of pressure on Putin and Russia?

Anything?

Bueller? Bueller?

Nope.

But don't ya' dare suggest that Mad King Donald is a Russian asset, nosiree.
