Gee, should be fun to hear them discuss the defense's star witness, Bob Costello, who claimed to be only looking out for Michael Cohen while sending this email to his law partner which was presented today in evidence on cross exam: "Our issue is to get Cohen on the right page without giving the appearance that we are following instructions from Giuliani or the President."

Trump isn't going to jail before the election, even if he's convicted in NY. Even if were sentenced to a prison term (itself not a certainty for a first-time conviction on a non-violent crime), he would certainly have that sentence stayed pending appeal. Trump will be the GOP nominee, irrespective of the outcome of the case.

If he's found guilty, I think it hurts him slightly in the polls.
The "point" is that when there's credible evidence that someone has committed a crime, the appropriate response by governmental authorities is to investigate it and - if the evidence supports it - prosecute the crime. Regardless of whether it has any effect on the polls.
If he's acquitted on all charges, I think it helps him slightly in the polls.

A. historically, when given every chance to run his mouth FOR THE LEGAL RECORD, defendant trump is unresponsive. whenever previously COMPELLED to testify as a defendant, out come monosyllabic mumbles.
B. trump goes with an excuse stupid enough for both him and his cult to genuinely believe ~ 'the gag order prevents me from testifying'.
